Description	:	TOPEKA Lawrence Phillip Ireland, 68, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at his home surrounded by family. L.P. was born September 19, 1943 in Holton, the son of Russell and Pauline Desbien Ireland. He attended Holton High School and graduated from Kansas State University. He later graduated from the Washburn University School of Law. His proudest accomplishment was being a loving husband, father and grandfather. L.P. was a veteran of the Army National Guard, having served his country with honor in Vietnam, where he received the Combat Infantry Badge. After returning from the service, he finished school and... Read More	TOPEKA Lawrence Phillip Ireland, 68, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at his home surrounded by family. L.P. was born September 19, 1943 in Holton, the son of Russell and Pauline Desbien Ireland. He attended Holton High School and graduated from Kansas State University. He later graduated from the Washburn University School of Law. His proudest accomplishment was being a loving husband, father and grandfather. L.P. was a veteran of the Army National Guard, having served his country with honor in Vietnam, where he received the Combat Infantry Badge. After returning from the service, he finished school and started practicing law. He practiced law in Topeka for over 30 years, retiring in 2006. He married Linda Lee Woodall on August 28, 1965 in Holton. She survives, of the home. Other survivors include two sons, Doug Ireland and Brent Ireland, both of Topeka; one grandson, Blake, and two granddaughters, Grace and Claire; two brothers, Mike Ireland and wife Bev, and Dennis Ireland, all of Holton; a sister, Mary Dexter and husband Cork, Holton, and a half-sister, Britta Kelly, Topeka. Cremation is planned. Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 28th at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Holton where family and friends will meet from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Burial with military honors will follow in the Holton Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Midland Hospice, Guardian Angels, or the Wounded Warrior Project, and may be sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 1034, Holton, 66436.
