Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill cemetery, Concordia, where there will be military honors. Cpl. Householter, a track star during high school days at Concordia, was a triple winner in the 1967 state outdoor track championships, winning the 100, 220 and 400 yard dashes and held state class records in the 100 (:09.6) and 440 (:48.9), was killed June 23 in Quang Nam province, South Vietnam. Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Matt Duffy, Salina; 3 brothers, Alan Householter, Wichita; Nick Householfer, Dallas, Tex., and Mike Duffey, Salina; 6 sisters. Sue, Candy and Tina Duffy, Salina, and Mrs. Velma Marcotte, Mrs. Maxine Huffman and Mrs. Betty Morino, all of Van Nuys, Calif., and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. D.P. Strait, Concordia. The body will be at the Smith funeral home, Concordia, Thursday. The family suggests memorials to an athletic scholarship at Concordia high school. Concordia banks are accepting memorial gifts. Salina Journal–Sept 19, 1969 Bronze Star to Cpl. Householter Posthumously The Bronze Star medal, with Combat "V" was presented posthumously Thursday to Marine Lance Cpl. Terry A. Householter in a ceremony at the home of his mother, Mrs. Matthew Duffy, Salina. Cpl. Householter was killed in combat in Vietnam June 23. The presentation was made by Maj. Paul Lassard, officer in charge of the Kansas City area Marine recruiting stations; M-Sgt. Roland McGraw, also of Kansas City, and S-Sgt. Phil Richardson, Salina Marine recruiter. The citation was for meritorious service. Cpl. Householter would have been 21 Wednesday of this week. He expected to return home Sept, 11 and resume his studies at Fort Hays State college. He was a track star at Concordia high school and Fort Hays. He attended grade school in Salina. He was a squad leader with Company M, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines. He participated in 7 major combat operations. The Bronze Star citation particularly stressed his leadership on May 4 in rallying his platoon to continue an attack despite heavy enemy fire.
