Description	:	Lee J. Cephart was born in Iowa County, Iowa, Nov. 11, 1859, and was called to his home on Jan. 20, 1940, aged 80 years, 2 months and 9 days. Mr. Cephart was converted in the Correction Grove Baptist church and united with that church and served there for many years as deacon and Sunday school teacher. She was called... Read More	Lee J. Cephart was born in Iowa County, Iowa, Nov. 11, 1859, and was called to his home on Jan. 20, 1940, aged 80 years, 2 months and 9 days. Mr. Cephart was converted in the Correction Grove Baptist church and united with that church and served there for many years as deacon and Sunday school teacher. On Oct. 29, 1917, he joined the Baptist church in Harlan where he served as active and as honorary deacon until the time of his death. Mr. Cephart was married to Elizabeth Ross on Dec. 28, 1882. She was called from this world on Jan. 26, 1908. He later married Mary Ellen Alwell and she passed away on Nov. 30, 1937. On Jan. 17, 1939, L. J. Cephart and Mrs. Isabell Buss were married and spent a very happy year together in their comfortable home on 8th street. He will be much missed in that home and by his great host of friends. Mr. Cephart's life was spent in farming. He owned a farm in Jackson township that he operated successfully for many years. He moved into Harlan about 15 years ago and has been a resident of Shelby county for more than 58 years. Mr. Cephart had a great host of friends. He was humorous and good natured and had a kind word for every person that he had met. He leaves to mourn his beloved wife and three sisters: Mrs. Mary Sheeters(Sheeder)of Guthrie Center, Mrs. Jennie Marrion (Marion) of Adair, and Miss Clara Cephart (Capehart) of Kansas City, Mo. He also leaves a great host of friends that will miss him on this earth. Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at the Bethel Baptist church in Harlan. Special music was provided by Mr. H. C. Pauley and the male quartette with Rev. A. H. Nelson officiating. Internment was made in the Clay Township cemetery. The great abundance of beautiful flowers express the love and sympathy of a great group of friends. Mary Ellen Alwill (his 2nd wife) and Isabelle Alwill Buss (his 3rd wife) were sisters. Mary passed away in 1937. Isabelle's husband, Charles Buss passed away in 1933 and she married Lee Cephart in 1939
