Read More	The Nashua Reporter ( Nashua, Iowa) July 7, 1948 Mrs. Stevenson Passes Away Mrs. Goerge Stevenson, 60, passed away at the Charles City hospital on Friday morning, where she had submitted to surgery, following a lingering illness. Born Leda Clara Zabel, the daughter of Frank and Marie Blauert Zabel on June 27, 1888, in the Province of Brandenburg, Germany. She came with her family to the United States when she was five years of age, and settled in Waverly, Iowa. She received her education in the schools of Waverly, and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Waverly by Rev. Zimmerman, and was a member of St. John's Lutheran church of Nashua. She was married to George Stevenson June 7, 1911 at Waverly, Iowa, where they lived until May 10, 1920 when they came to Nashua to make their home, and where they have lived since. She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Helen, by a previous marriage. She leaves to mourn, her husband, two sisters, Mrs. Martha Stevenson of Allison, and Mrs. Olga Garland of Denver, Iowa, a brother, Hugo Zabel of Waterloo, and a half brother, Albert Dukowitz of Waverly, Iowa. Also a niece, Mary Zabel, now Mrs. Paul Wagner of 1144 Forest Avenue, Waterloo, who she took into her home when a year old, and raised her as her own child, and who made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Stevenson until her marriage. Also 3 nephews, and four nieces and Paulette and Steven Wagner, children of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Wagner, who were like her own grandchildren to her. Funeral services were held on Sunday at 2pm at the Lutheran Church in Nashua with Rev. A. H. Jahr officiating. burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Nashua with the Chenoweth Funeral home in charge. Pallbearers were Cecil Knight, Merle Nelson, Richard Chandler, Kenneth Chandler, Herman Jakel and Werner Kehe. miss Kathryn Wedemeyer, and Mrs. E. Ganschow had charge of the flowers.
