Read More	son of Martin and Augusta (Kratchmer) Albers Lee Albers, 94, of Shell Rock, Iowa, and formerly of Waverly, died on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at the Shell Rock Healthcare Center in Shell Rock, Iowa. Lee was born on November 9, 1918, at the family farm south of Shell Rock, Iowa, the son of Martin and Augusta (Kratchmer) Albers. He attended country school at Salem. On August 18, 1938, he was united in marriage to Irene Nolte in Waverly. The couple had one son, Larry. The couple made their home in Shell Rock for a year and then moved to a farm south of Shell Rock, where they farmed for 20 years and then moved to a farm in the same area where they farmed for another 20 years before moving back to their present farm. Lee was a true caretaker of the land and was engaged in farming until the age of 86. Irene died on January 2, 1993, and Lee continued to live on his farm until he made his home at the Meadows in Shell Rock and then the Shell Rock Health Care Center. Lee enjoyed farming, bowling, golf and his family. He was a member of Faith Lutheran in Shell Rock, Iowa. Lee is survived by his son Larry (Lea Ann) Albers, Waverly, Iowa; five grandchildren, Teri Neal, Mark Albers, Mike Albers, Rick Albers and Kris Hernandez; eleven great grandchildren and special nephews, Wayne & Warren Nolte. Lee was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Irene, four brothers, John, George, Bill and Fred; four sisters, Ellie, Annie and Fannie and Marie Smith; two brother-in-laws, Austin and Roland Nolte on his wife's side. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 29, 2013 at 11:00 am at Faith Lutheran Church in Shell Rock, with Pastor Kim Smith officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Shell Rock. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 29, 2013 from 10:00 am until service time at the church.
