Description	:	Lee Lawrence Witte was born April 22, 1917 on a farm southeast of Ida Grove, the son of Henry and Magdelcna (Wunschel) Witte. He attended country school through the eighth grade and graduated from Ida Grove High School with the class of 1935. He then attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake. Lee served in the United States Air Force from 1942- 1945 during World War II. In 1940 he went to work for the State Bank of Schaller and retired from there in 1979 after 31 years. On June 4, 1951 he was united in marriage to Ruth Wendel at Schaller. The couple made their home in Schaller until September 2001, when they moved to Weil Life in Alta. Lee was a member of St. Paul Luthran Church in Schaller, he served as a member of the Sac County Conservation Board for three years, was a member of the Sac County Veterans Affairs Commission and served on the Board of Directors of the State Bank of Schaller for 20 years. He enjoydd golf and bowling and was an avid sports fan. His family includes his wife Ruth of Alta; a son Lyle Witte and his wife, Vicki of Sutherland; a daughter, Valerie Ladwig and her husband, Rick of Ida Grove; two granddaughters, Stephanie and Melonie Ladwig; five brothers: Edward of Schaller, Burdette and his wife, Vi of Ida Grove, Don and his wife, Wilma of Bentonville, Ark., Emmit and his wife, Laura of Schaller and George and his wife, Janice of Schaller; two sisters, Esther Patterson of Britton, S.D., and Irene Carstensen of Ida Grove, three sisters-in-law: Leona Witte of Wahoo, Neb., Inez Witte of Canton, Ohio, and Joyce Witte of Sac City. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter Brandi Witte; three brothers, Clarence, Roy and Robert; and a sister, Hertha Teghtmeyer.
