Hafer on August 23, 1894, at Geneva, and passed away on September 19, 1983, at Long Term Care, Fillmore County Hospital, Geneva, at the age of 89 years and 26 days. She was the youngest in a family of nine children, who all preceded her in death. She lived in and around the Geneva area her entire life. She attended country school and the Geneva public school. Hafer on August 23, 1894, at Geneva, and passed away on September 19, 1983, at Long Term Care, Fillmore County Hospital, Geneva, at the age of 89 years and 26 days. She was the youngest in a family of nine children, who all preceded her in death. She lived in and around the Geneva area her entire life. She attended country school and the Geneva public school. Lela married Albert H. Stoldorf of Geneva on March 8, 1916, and to them one child was born. She and Bert farmed west of Geneva and in 1946 they moved to Geneva where Herbert came home after four years in the Army. In 1952 they moved to their present home where she lived until April, 1983, when her health made it necessary to go to the hospital and eventually to Long Term Care. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert, who died in February of 1965. Lela is survived by one child, Herbert Stoldorf and his wife Evelyn; a grandson, Bob and wife Mary of Geneva; a granddaughter, Debra Hood; and one great-granddaughter, Kay of Lincoln. Services were held at the First Congregational United Church of Christ at Geneva on September 22, with the Rev. Charles Schepel officiating. Interment was in the Geneva public cemetery. Mrs. Willard Foster accompanied Kelly Eich who sang, “In the Garden” and “Just a Closer Walk with Thee.” Pallbearers were Harlan Domeier, Maurice Hafer, Ed Newman, Paul Schupbach, Vernon Dearking and Dean Stoldorf.
