Lela Leone Roberts was born on March 14, 1926 at the Eldora Hospital in Eldora, Iowa. She was the eldest of two daughters born to Alfred and Nora (Bekemeier) Blome. Read More	Lela Roberts, age 89, of Hubbard, IA, died on Thursday, September 10, 2015, at the Hubbard Care Center. Lela Leone Roberts was born on March 14, 1926 at the Eldora Hospital in Eldora, Iowa. She was the eldest of two daughters born to Alfred and Nora (Bekemeier) Blome. She was baptized in May 1926 by Rev. F. L. Rodenbeck and confirmed into the Zion Church in 1939 by Rev. Eric Bizer. Lela received her education by attending Grant #3 country school through the 5th grade and then attended Hubbard Community School where she graduated with the Class of 1944. She attended A.I.B. in Des Moines and began working for a bookkeeping service. On September 18, 1948, Lela was united in marriage to Gerald Eugene Roberts at the Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church (Zion UCC) in Hubbard, Iowa. They resided in Denver, Colorado for two years. After they returned from Denver, Lela worked at the Security State Bank in Hubbard. Lela divided her time between taking care of her family, keeping the books for the family farm business and being a mother and farmwife. They enjoyed their winters in Mission, Texas from 1994 until 2009. She was an active member of the Zion United Church of Christ, where she taught Sunday School and Bible School and was active in the Women's Fellowship. Lela is survived by her son Jeffrey and his wife Rhonda of Hubbard; her daughter Nancy and her husband Lee Faw of The Woodlands, TX; four grandsons, Clay (Kasie) Roberts, Cooper Roberts, Nicholas (Kari) Faw and Joshua Faw; four great grandchildren Aleighia, Aumriee and Aquinnah Roberts and Noah Faw; her sister Marjorie Lehman of Des Moines, IA; along with many other relatives and friends. Lela was preceded in death by her parents Alfred and Nora Blome, husband G.E. Roberts and son Douglas as a young child.
