Lela May LaRue, daughter of Howard and Rosa LaRue, was born at Hamilton, Kansas, May 7, 1900. She was graduated from Hamilton High School and attended the Kansas State Teachers College at Emporia. She taught school for a few years and was the en employed as a clerk and bookkeeper at the Oliver Grocer and Dry Goods Store in Hamilton. She was a member of the Methodist church, the Royal Neighbors, the Rebekah Lodge and the Past Noble Grand's club. On March 24, 1929, she was married to Oris Divine of Eureka, who survives her. Mr. and Mrs. Divine resided on a farm northeast of Eureka until rather recently when they moved to a farm near Hamilton. Besides her husband she is survived by two brothers, Ernest LaRue, El Dorado, KS and Herbert LaRue, Chicago, IL; four nieces, Phyllis Jean and Peggy Lee LaRue, El Dorado, KS, Mrs. Otis Blevins, Belen, NM, and Mrs. Betty McFall, Eureka, two nephews, Jackie Howard and Jimmie LaRue, El Dorado, one uncle, J. W. Reed, Eureka, two aunts, Mrs. J. A. Gentry, Augusta, and Mrs. Don Redfern, Albuquerque, NM. Many other relatives and a host of friends, who held her in loving memory. Her mother, Mrs. Rosa LaRue, preceded her in death on April 30, 1945. The funeral service was held Saturday afternoon at the Baird funeral Home conducted by the Rev. H. W. Glaze of Fulton, KS, a friend of the family and a former pastor at Hamilton.Interment in Greenwood Cemetery.
