Memorial services are pending in Columbus, Neb. He was born June 28, 1921, on a farm outside Riverdale to Edward and Helena (Juhl) Berkheimer. On Nov. 27, 1947, he married Faye Hammans. Survivors include his wife; sons, Steven of Libertyville, Ill., and Bradley of Seaside; and daughter, Delena of Long Grove, Ill. Additional survivors include his grandchildren, Jaimason, Malia, Kaylin, Geoffrey and Lena. A lifelong and devoted follower and example of Christ's teachings, he was a long-standing member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus and a recent member of First Methodist Church in Pacific Grove. He was a World War II veteran. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force. His most lasting and endearing legacy is his beloved and loving family. His devotion to his family was the energizing and motivating force behind all of his good works. It sustained him and gave him immeasurable joy throughout his life, and that love will continue to sustain and support and motivate all whose lives he touched so deeply. His life made a difference.
