That's how the Leland name came into our family histories." Leland Stanford Martin studied law at the University of California at Berkley. After graduation he taught school in the San Joaquin Valley. He served in WWI in France and Germany. In 1921 he married Zelma Gertrude Wilson and had two sons before she died of cancer in 1931. He remarried in 1933 to Gladys Cooper. Leland taught High School for 40 years before retiring to Los Altos, Santa Clara Co. where he lived until he died in 1966.
