Read More	LEM WILKEN PASSES AWAY FRIDAY AT VETERAN HOSPITAL Lem Wilken, for many years a resident of this community passed away Friday morning at the Veteran Hospital in Lincoln following an illness of several years. Mr. Wilken was engaged in farming most of his life. Lem Wilken, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Chris Wilken, was born February 24, 1895 at LaPrairie, Ill. On April 14, 1895 he was baptized. In 1898, he with his parents, brothers and sisters came to Sterling, Nebr., and later moved to the Adams vicinity. April 9. 1911 he was confirmed in the Hanover Lutheran church. Most of his life was spent in the Adams community with the exception of a year at Greenwood and eight years at Raymond, Nebr. He was united in marriage to Dora Weber May 3, 1919. To this union was born one daughter, Grace. In 1947 Mr. Wilken was stricken with diabetes. Two years ago he suffered a stroke of paralysis and since that time has been in very poor health. March 1, he suffered another stroke from which he never recovered. On March 2 he was taken to the Veterans Hospital at Lincoln and on Friday morning, March 16, he departed this life at the age of 61 years, and 21 days. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Dora; one daughter, Mrs. Fred Adams; three grandchildren, Doris, Leslie and Lila Adams; one son-in-law, Fred Adams; one brother, John Wilken; one sister, (Emma) Mrs. John Weber and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Presbyterian church in Adams with Rev. Wisehmeir of Lincoln officiating. The American Legion had charge f the services. Burial was in Highland cemetery.
