Services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Grand Island. The Rev. Donald Jones will officiate. burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery at Cairo. Miss Bryan was born Sept 20, 1895, near Cairo, the daughter of Orion and Lillie Porter Bryan. She received her education at Cairo ans was a 1923 graduate of Grand Island College. She received a master's degree in education from the University of Nebraska in 1936. Miss Bryan taught school in Nebraska and South Dakota for 41 years. In 1961 she retired and moved to Grand Island. In 1981 she moved to good Samaritan Nursing Home in wood River. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Grand Island, the Order of the Eastern Star and the PEO Sisterhood. She also had contributed more than 1000 hours of volunteer work at Lutheran Hospital. Survivors include a brother, Laurence Bryan of St. Edward, and a sister, Mrs. Helen Wik of Oakland, Calif. She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. ___________ Services for Lena Bryan, 87, of Grand Island were Thursday at First Baptist Church. The Rev. Donald Jones officiated. Burial was in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery at Cairo. Pallbearers were Robert Bryan, William Bryan, Gerald Bryan, Bryan Peterson, Dale Peterson and Keith Peterson. Apfel Funeral Home of Wood River was in charge of arrangements.
