At the age of fifteen years he moved with his mother to a farm near Cairo, Nebraska, where he grew to young manhood. He was united in marriage with Miss Lillie Porter November 29, 1894. Nine children were born to this union, six of whom survive the father. For a number of years the family resided in Utah and California, later returning to Cairo. They then moved to Silver Creek and from that place to Central city, four years ago last August, where they purchased a farm adjoining the city on the east. Mr. Bryan became a member of the first Baptist church of Bluff Center at the age of nineteen. Later he transferred his membership to the Baptist church of Cairo, Nebraska, where he retained his membership until the time of his death. He was a member of the Modern Woodman lodge. He is survived by his widow and six children: Mrs. E. H. Grim, of Cairo; Guilford Bryan, Silver Creek; Ruth, Lena, Laurence and Helen Bryan, Central City, two sisters: Mrs. A. E. Coons, of Cairo, and Mrs. S. A. King, of Rochester, Indiana: one brother, J. L. Bryan, of Franklin, Ind., two grandchildren and many friends. One daughter, Belle N. Peterson, and two sons, Clarence and Wayne, preceded the father in death. Funeral services were conducted at the home at 12:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon, after which the remains were taken to Mt. Pleasant cemetery, near Cairo, for internment, where a second service was held at the grave at 3:30. Here music was furnished by a mixed quartette from the Baptist church. The pallbearers from Cairo were six nephews: Dorsey, Edgar and Lloyd Coons, Art Lowry, Willie Fairburn and Dean Veeder. Rev. C. M. Strong had charge of the services. Mary Louise Campbell and Alice Johnson of Central City, were flower girls. A beautiful array of floral tokens testified to the high esteem in which the deceased had been held by his fellowmen.
