Saylor of Holyoke, civic and community leader, church worker and former teacher, passed away Sunday at St. Joseph's Hospital in Denver after undergoing surgery. She entered the hospital late last week. Mrs. Saylor was 57 years of age. Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 p.m. yesterday at the Holyoke Methodist church with Rev. J. Hubert Wubben officiating. Interment was at Holyoke Memorial Park. Arrangements were in charge of the Lewis Funeral Home. As Lena Wise, a daughter of John and Grace Wise, Mrs. Saylor was born April 1, 1903, at Granada, Colorado. Her early years were spent at Chivington, Colorado. She was graduated from Colorado State Teachers College at Greeley and taught school in the Holyoke High School for two years. She was united in marriage to Robert I. Saylor in 1930 and they established their home on a farm northwest of Holyoke. There Mrs. Saylor resided the rest of her life. Mrs. Saylor was active in many organizations and community affairs, including Order of Eastern Star, Holyoke Parent-Teacher Association, Delphian Club and the Neighborhood Ly Lo Club. She was a member of the Methodist church and was serving her second term as president of the Women's Society of Christian Service at the time of her death. Mrs. Saylor is remembered as a kind, unselfish, conscientious and dependable individual who set an example of diligent service to her family, friends and community. Survivors include her husband and one son, Garry, of Holyoke; her mother, Mrs. Grace Wise, Kit Carson, Colorado; two sisters, Mrs. Hazel Shumate, Denver, and Mrs. Wilma Gruenwald, Kit Carson, and two brothers, Vance Wise, Denver, and Lawrence Wise, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
