Read More	Provided by a family member: Lena Mae Masching was born in Audubon County, Iowa, on April 26, 1926, the daughter of Frank and Rhea Clark Masching. She grew up in Audubon County where she attended rural schools. After her formal schooling she worked at a grocery store and at other jobs. On February 4, 1948, she was married to Billie Metheny at Greenfield. They lived in the Anita area all of their married life. She worked at several nursing homes, including Potter Nursing Home, and raised a family of eight children. She also worked at Crestwood Nursing Home in Anita, and then Colonial Manor for many years. After "retiring" she worked at the Adair Community Health Center in Adair for ten more years. She loved gardening and flowers, did crocheting and had a large doll collection. Surviving are her children, Sam Metheny and wife Linda of Walnut, Judy Alff and husband Bruce of Anita, Jane Kline and husband Ron of Anita, Sandi Paulsen and husband Steve of Anita, Steve Metheny of Anita, Cathie Alff of Anita, Stan Metheny and wife R. D. of Wiota, and Sheldon Metheny and wife Carole of Anita; 22 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Kinzie of Anita; nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents; two grandchildren, Scott and Jimmie, two sisters, Pauline Christensen and Jeneveive Christensen, and niece, Twila Marnin. She was buried on 17 arch 2003 at the Mullen Funeral Home, and officiant was Tom Rodawald. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Anita, Iowa Funeral Notice, LENA MAE METHENY, 76 Funeral services for Lena Mae Metheny, 76, of Anita, were held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday at the Mullen Funeral Home in Anita. Burial followed at Evergreen Cemetery. Mrs Metheny died Thursday afternoon, March 13, 2003 at the home of her daughter in Anita. Tom Rodewald of Newton conducted the services. The music was by Jodi Rudolph accompanied by Mary Turner, doing the hymns "The Old Rugged Cross" and "How Great Though Art." Pallbearers were grandsons; Jeff Metheny, Jason Alff, Kyle Kline, Shawn Paulsen, Ryan Metheny, and Scott Alff. Honorary Pallbearers were granddaughters; Kristine Heckman, Janis DeBates, Tracy Wilson, Hope Metheny, and Callie Metheny. The flowers bearers were "her children."
