She was born June 22, 1912 north of Bonaparte to Ernest C. and Ina Cass Huff. She married Arthur K. Hamlett January 7, 1932 in Kahoka, MO. He died April 19, 1983. They lived their married life in Mt. Sterling. She graduated from Bonaparte High School, was a homemaker and gardener, and served 14 years as Mt. Sterling Postmaster. She had attended the former Mt. Sterling United Methodist Church. Surviving are a son, Jo Hamlett of Mt. Sterling, two granddaughters, Laura Bail and Linda Nossinger, five great grandchildren, a sister, Edith Meredith of Troy, a brother, Marshall Huff of Long Beach, WA, and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Joyce Ilene Thomas, two sisters, Lenora McIntosh and Ruth Peel and seven brothers, Dale, Brooks, Donald, James, Carl, Allen and Robert Huff. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, 1997, at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, Rev. Robert Griffin officiating. Burial was in Harness Cemetery, Mt. Sterling. Memorials to Bentonsport Cemetery or Mt. Sterling Betterment Association may be left at the funeral home. Newspaper of unknown origin.
