Description	:	MRS. KING IS BURIED AT GUSS Funeral services for Mrs. Lena M. King, 72, were held Saturday, September 11, 1965 at 1:30 p.m. from the Villisca Methodist Church with Rev. George S. Snyder officiating. The organist Mrs. Mabel Dunn, accompanied Mrs. Carolyn Harris in the following vocal selections, “Beyond The Sunset” and “In The Garden.” Flower bearers were Mrs. Cleave King and Mrs. Wilbur King. Casket bearers included Cleave King, Ronald Kester, Chester Kendrick, Thelbert Kendrick, Ross King, and Dale King. Interment was in the Guss Cemetery, with Wolfe Funeral Home in charge. Lena Mattie Kendrick, daughter of William and Sarah Catherine Ridnour Kendrick, was born December 16, 1892 in Page County, south of Villisca, Iowa and passed away September 8, 1965 at Red Oak, at the age of 72 years. She had been in poor health for several years. On December 26, 1912, she was unite din marriage with Charles J. King at Clarinda, Iowa. Most of their married life was spent in Taylor and Adams Counties until 1958, when they retired and moved to Red Oak Mrs. King joined the North Grove Methodist Church in her youth. In addition to her husband Charles, she is survived by four children, Ora King of Odessa, Texas, Mrs. Ruby McKee of Estherville, Iowa, Virgil King of Red Oak, and Mrs. Velda Beck of Red Oak; twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
