Description	:	LENA HAMBY Lena Hamby, 101, of Billings, passed away peacefully Sunday evening, Jan. 21, 2001, at the Apple Hill Assisted Living Home where she had resided the past two and a half years. Lena was born in Lanzo, Italy, on Nov. 20, 1899, the second youngest in a family of 11 children born to Michele and Caterina Olivetti. She came to the United States at the age of nine, living in Kankakee, Ill., until she came west in 1918, settling in Ismay, where she met and married Bob Hamby in 1921. Read More	LENA HAMBY Lena Hamby, 101, of Billings, passed away peacefully Sunday evening, Jan. 21, 2001, at the Apple Hill Assisted Living Home where she had resided the past two and a half years. Lena was born in Lanzo, Italy, on Nov. 20, 1899, the second youngest in a family of 11 children born to Michele and Caterina Olivetti. She came to the United States at the age of nine, living in Kankakee, Ill., until she came west in 1918, settling in Ismay, where she met and married Bob Hamby in 1921. They farmed and ranched there until moving to Billings in 1959. Her husband died in 1975, and she lived in her own home until the age of 95, when she moved into assisted living homes. In addition to her husband Bob, she was preceded in death by two sons, Melvin and Chuck. Surviving are her children, Bill (Carole) Hamby of Spokane, John (Shirley) Hamby of Billings, Kate (Charles) Redman of Ismay, and Ella Mae (Bernard) Obie of Billings; her daughter-in-law, Thelma Hamby of Billings; 19 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren, and one great-great-great-grandchild. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, at St. Bernard's Parish, 226 Wicks Lane. Rite of Committal will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be directed to Big Sky Hospice or the charity of one's choice. Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist has charge of arrangements. The Billings Gazette January 24, 2001
