Higgins of Havensville, passed away at Leavenworth last Sunday Feb. 7th, she had been ill for three weeks and critically so for three days, in poor health for several years. Higgins of Havensville, passed away at Leavenworth last Sunday Feb. 7th, she had been ill for three weeks and critically so for three days, in poor health for several years. She was the daughter of Grant and Carrie Higgins and was born at America City, Kan. Sept. 11, 1887. She grew to womanhood in her native community and was married there to Mr. Coffey April 19th, 1904. To them were born three sons and three daughters: Mrs. Thelma Mappes of Leavenworth, Mrs. Florence Freeman of Harden, Mo., Mrs. Kathleen Roser and Ulysses Coffey both of Leavenworth, and James, Jr., and Bobby Dale of the home. Besides these and her mother, there survive two sisters: Mrs. Pansy Rash and Mrs. Fern Henery of Havensville, a brother, J. C. Higgins of Topeka, and five grandchildren. Mrs. Coffey was a highly esteemed woman. She was a member of the Leavenworth Christian church and before the failing of her health, worked faithfully as teacher in the Bible school, was an active member of Chapter III of the Ladies Aid, and of numerous other organizations. Due to her untiring interest her children have attained remarkable records in Bible School attendance. Her many friends speak unsparingly and sincerely of her life and the fragrance of her influence. Brief services were conducted in Leavenworth by her pastor, Rev. Wm. Hart, Tuesday morning, further services were held in the Havensville Christian church, Tuesday afternoon, the pastor, Wm. M. Mayfield officiating and the music being provided by Miss Wilma Biddle, Miss Sarah Hoefer, Mr. Fred Venneberg and Mr. Will Rairdon with Miss Cressie Eddy accompanying. The pall bearers were Messers Everett Mills, Frank Ross, Ralph Myers, Henry McKee, George Randall, and Roy Channel, Interment was at America City.
