Description	:	Mrs. Lena Schafroth Walter, daughter of Levi and Mary Schafroth was born in Sardis Ohio, July 5th, 1868 and died at her home in Brooks, Iowa, May 21, 1947 at 1:15 in the afternoon at the age of 78 years, 10 months, and 15 days. 'On September 14, 1882 she was married to John Walter. To this union three children were born, all of whom survive. They are Jessie Walter and Mrs. Grace Lundquist of Corning and Mrs. Freda Marvin of Brooks. They went to housekeeping on a farm 4 1/2 miles south of Corning. For the past 30 years they have lived in Brooks, Iowa. Mrs. Walter and her husband enjoyed traveling and they took several vacation trips to various parts of the United States. Mrs. Walter has been a member of the Methodist Church at Merceer Center for many years. She leaves to mourn her beloved husband, three children and the following brother and sisters; William Schafroth, Corning, Fred Schafroth, San Antonio, Texas; Joe Schafroth, Lenox, George Schafroth, Corning; Mrs. Kate Miller, Corning; Mrs. Rose Miller, Corning; Mrs. Linnie Hanson, Prescott; Mrs. Liollian Thorton, Brownville, Oregon, and Mrs. Alta Sigenthalter, Akron, Ohio. She also leaves nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Four brothers and sisters preceded her in death. They are Mrs. Louise Miller, Miss Emma Schafroth, John and Edward Schafroth. Mrs. Walter was a kind and loving wife and mother. Her love of her home and family made her work a pleasure to her. She took great pride in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family, relatives, and friends will cherish the memory of her perfectly kept house, garden, and flowers. Her hands were never idle and in them was a magic touch which seemed to create order and beauty where ever she worked. She was a kind and generous neighbor and friend, always thoughtful of others and willing to lend a hand where ever it was needed. As a member of the Women's Society, she was always willing to do her part. During the several months of her illness, she has maintained a keen interest in the welfare of others and always enjoyed the visits from her family and friends. She has been tenderly and lovingly cared for by her devoted husband and children; the two daughters having been with her most of the time. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, for to know her was to love her. Funeral services were held at 2:30 Saturday afternoon, May 24, from the Brooks Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. V. A. Bloomquist. Interment was made in the Methodist Grove Cemetery. The pall bearers were Joseph Walter, Owen Schafroth, Marshall Miller, Paul Schafroth, Ralph Miller, and Clyde Miller.
