Description	:	John Henry Walter, son of John and Rosina Walter, was born in Sardis, Ohio, March 17, 1864 and died at 6:30 a.m. October 28, 1951 in the Lenox Rest Home, Lenox, Iowa. He lived to the age of 88 years, 8 months, and 11 days. On September 14, 1889 he maws married to Lena Shaforth, who preceded him in death, May 21, 1947. To this union three children were born, two surviving. They are Jesse Walter and Mrs. Grace Lundquist of Corning. Another daughter, Mrs. Freda Naven of Brooks, passed away November 6, 1949. Read More	John Henry Walter, son of John and Rosina Walter, was born in Sardis, Ohio, March 17, 1864 and died at 6:30 a.m. October 28, 1951 in the Lenox Rest Home, Lenox, Iowa. He lived to the age of 88 years, 8 months, and 11 days. On September 14, 1889 he maws married to Lena Shaforth, who preceded him in death, May 21, 1947. To this union three children were born, two surviving. They are Jesse Walter and Mrs. Grace Lundquist of Corning. Another daughter, Mrs. Freda Naven of Brooks, passed away November 6, 1949. Mr. and Mrs. Walter started housekeeping on a farm four and a half miles south of Corning. In 1926 they moved to Brooks and lived there until the death of his wife. After that he made his home among the children until the last year which he spent in the Lenox Rest Home where he was tenderly cared for. He leaves to mourn his two children, nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Also there is one living sister, Mrs. Clara Hanzie of Brooks and brother, Charles Walter of Cushing, Oklahoma. Two brothers, Henry and William and two sisters, Louise and Alice Hedinger, preceded him in death. He was a gracious and loving husband and father. During his long illness he was a patient sufferer. As a neighbor and friend he was always kind and thoughtful. Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 30th in the Brooks Methodist Church at 2 p.m. conducted by Rev. Donald Cutler. Music was furnished by Mrs. Blanche Lund accompanied by Miss Vida Jackson. Pall bearers were Jim Stalder, John Mitchell, Artie White, Ivan Heaton, Clifford Odell, and Ivan Stillinger. Interment was in the Methodist Grove Cemetery. This who attended the services from out-of-town were: Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Allison and family of Kansas, Missouri, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Mann and family of Thurman, Iowa, Mrs. Darrel Thomas of Omaha, Nebraska, Miss Ila Mae Lundquist of Des Moines, Iowa, and Miss Arleta Lundquist of Fairfield, Iowa.
