LENNAH BABCOCK BURIED IN NELIGH, MONDAY, APRIL 17 Short services were held at Laurel Hill cemetery Monday afternoon for Mrs. Lennah Babcock, 77, who passed away at St. Mary's hospital in Nebraska City, at 3:10 Friday afternoon, after an illness of six weeks. She had been unconscious for several days before her death. Mrs. Babcock was born at Browns Lake, Racine County, Wisconsin, February 2, 1867, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Trowbridge and married John L . Babcock at Neligh, Nebraska, September 29, 1886. They share one daughter, Mrs. Florance Mitchell, currently of Nebraska City. Other close relative are Mrs. Gail H. Skinner, Mrs. Margaret H. Barber, Chicago, cousins: Charles Corby, Frank Hall, Roy Hall, Neligh, Rev. Claude Eldridge, Worcester, Massachusetts, nephews, Mrs. S. Dean, a niece, who is a war prisoner in China. Mr. Babcock passed at Yankton, South Dakota, April 20 [22], 1937. Mrs. Babcock was the daughter of one of Antelope county's pioneer families, the Trowbridge family coming to Antelope county in a covered wagon in 1872 and taking a homestead near Neligh. Mr. and Mrs. Babcock first lived on a farm north of Neligh, later coming to Neligh where they made their home for a number of years. Shortly before Mr. Babcock's death they moved to Yankton to be near their daughter, and in the spring of 1938, Mrs. Babcock moved to Nebraska city with her daughter and son-in-law, the late Rev. Leonard Mitchell. She was a member of the Episcopal church and the P. E. O. Sisterhood. Funeral services were held at St. Mary's Episcopal church, at Nebraska City, Monday, April 17, at 9:30 a.m., the Rev. R. C. Rodgers in charge, after which the body was brought to Neligh for burial. Out-of-town relatives who attended the funeral services were Mrs. Gail E.
