Lenora died August 17, 2013 at Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck, ND. Lenora Luella Wahl, daughter of Salomon and Emma (Klipfel) Wahl was born August 29, 1923 on the family homestead seven miles east of Ashley. She attended country school in Jewell School District and Ashley High School, graduating with the class of 1941. Lenora taught rural school in Hoskins, Lowell and Jewell School Districts and worked as a receptionist at the McIntosh County Memorial Hospital for ten years. She was also employed as a part-time clerk at the county auditor's office. On January 1, 1962, she and Marvin purchased the Sportsman Bar and operated it until August of 1982. They moved to Lakota, ND for Marvin's work, returning to Ashley in 1986. In 2012 they sold their home and moved to Bismarck. She was united in marriage to Marvin Vossler 70 years ago on August 8, 1943 in Ashley. Home and family were especially important to her. Lenora cherished time spent with her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Among Lenora's many interests were gardening, dancing, playing cards and traveling. She was a wonderful seamstress. Her family and friends were recipients of her love of quilting and many kinds of handiwork. Lenora had a strong faith in God and was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Ashley for 70 years where she served on the church council, was on a call committee, taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, was a member of Bible Study Circle and the Women of the ELCA. Lenora is survived by her husband, Marvin of Bismarck; her children, Dorothy Olson (Ken) of Woodbury, MN, Verna Carpenter (Rod) of Glendive, MT and Mark Vossler (Marsha) of Beavercreek, OH; two grandchildren, Melissa Olson Subtil (Gautier) and Mitchell Vossler; three great-grandchildren, Anselme, Juliette and Anna Subtil, sisters-in-law, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Her parents and one brother, Lawrenz preceded her in death. Honorary Casketbearers will be Lenora's three great-grandchildren, Anselme, Juliette and Anna Subtil, Francis Lehr and her nieces and nephews. Casketbearers will be Cora Mueller, Monte Wahl, Bonnie Loose, Glenn Stugelmayer, Melissa Subtil and Mitchell Vossler. The organist will be Karen Himmerich with special music by Tammy, Evan and Jayden Wahl. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church Organ Fund, PO Box 257, Ashley, ND 58413 or to the charity of your choice. Carlsen Funeral Home of Ashley has been entrusted with arrangements.
