Mrs. Heynen was born on March 23. 1924, in Sioux Center, the daughter of Gerrit W. and Christine (Kosters) Vreeman. She attended country school until sixth grade, when the family moved to town, where she attended Sioux Center Christian School. She married Henry Heynen on July 6, 1939 in Lenora's home. The couple farmed northwest of Sioux Center. She worked as a cook at Holland House. Auto Dine and Central Cafe restaurants In Sioux Center. They moved to Sioux Center in 1970. She was a member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center, serving with the Mary's Fellowship and Sunshine Circle. She enjoyed cooking, fishing and sightseeing. Survivors include her husband; a son and his wife, William Gene and Wilma, of Boyden; two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Virginia) Ward, of Amarillo, Texas, and Valerie Hulleman of Sioux Center; four sisters, Gerdena De Vries, Mrs. Marinus (Bertha) Rensink. Mrs. Gordon (Ella) Den Herder and Etta Heusinkveld, all of Sioux Center; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, John, Hein, Dick and Bill, and two sisters, Christine and Gertrude. At her funeral service, music was provided by Karen Vreugdenhil, organist, and Bud Vreeman, soloist, who sang "One Day at a Time" and "Because He Lives." The congregational hymns were "How Great Thou Art" and "By the Sea of Crystal." Casket bearers were Arlo Heynen, Gary Heynen, Veryl Heynen, Bruce Heynen, Ryan Heynen and Clayton Vreeman.
