Description	:	Leo Bachmeier, 82, of Strasburg, ND, died September 6, 2007 in a Bismarck Hospital after a long struggle with cancer. Leo Bachmeier, was born January 1, 1925, at the Bachmeier Family farm 15 miles west of Strasburg, ND. Leo was the youngest of 10 children born to Melchoir & Christina (Giesinger) Bachmeier. Leo Bachmeier, was born January 1, 1925, at the Bachmeier Family farm 15 miles west of Strasburg, ND. Leo was the youngest of 10 children born to Melchoir & Christina (Giesinger) Bachmeier. He attended country school. He served in the Armed Forces in Germany toward the end of WWII. Leo married Elizabeth Frances Voller at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Strasburg on June 16, 1952. Following their marriage, they farmed and raised livestock on the same land he was birthed. Before farming, Leo was an autobody technician at Schumacher's Ford and Missouri Valley Motor in Bismarck. Leo's favorite hobbies were spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, playing pinochle and reading. Leo was a Knights of Columbus member for over 50 years. He is survived by his wife, Betty of Strasburg, ND; four sons and three daughters-in-law: Joe & Colleen Bachmeier of Owensboro, KY, Kevin & Sue Bachmeier of Bismarck, ND, David Bachmeier and Adel La Counte of Bainville, MT and John & Lilian Bachmeier of Pensacola, FL; one daughter and one son-in-law: Amy & John Schwengler of Lincoln, ND; nine grandchildren; one brother, Anton Bachmeier of Bartlett, TN and one sister, Regina Wagner of Strasburg, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Nick, three brothers, John, Martin and Peter and four sisters: Elizabeth Braun, Rofina Volk, Angeline Vetter and Eva Braun. While we will dearly miss his presence here on earth, we rejoice in his entry into paradise. Funeral services will be held Saturday September 8, 2007 at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Strasburg, with the Rev. Leonard Eckroth officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military rites provided by Strasburg VFW Post 6264. Arrangements by Myers Funeral Home.
