Description	:	Leo Edward "Eddie" Yerington, 78, of Muscatine, died Friday, March 5, 2010. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at the St. Mathias Church, 215 West Eighth Street. Burial will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Rites provided by the combined squads of the American Legion Post No. 27 and the V.F.W. Post No. 1565. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home, with a Rosary Prayer Service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Yerington was born Nov. 17, 1931, in Muscatine, the son of Charles and Gertrude Everett Yerington. He married Carol R. Wheeler April 23, 1954, at the St. Mary Church in Muscatine. He served in the U.S. Navy and sailed around the world during the Korean Conflict on the USS Worcester. At the age of 62, he retired from the City of Muscatine, where he worked as an Equipment Operator at Public Works. He was a member of Ss. Mary and Mathias Parish and the American Legion Post No. 27. He loved to entertain his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Those left to honor and cherish his memory include his wife of 55 years, Carol R. Yerington of Muscatine; seven sons, Kevin Yerington and wife, Barb, of Muscatine, Timothy Yerington and wife, Lisa, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Brian Yerington and wife, Dana, of Muscatine, Leo Yerington Jr. and wife, Diana, of Davenport, Daniel Yerington and wife, Nancy, of Wilton, Joseph Yerington and wife, DeEtta, of Albia, and Kyle Yerington and wife, Jenny, of LeClaire; six daughters, Terri Lee and husband, Sandy, of Muscatine, Victoria Plank and husband, Marvin, of Muscatine, Rose Mosier and husband, Randy, of North Liberty, Mary Bennett and husband, Kevin, of Centerville, Cheryl Plank and husband, Tim, of Muscatine, and Christine Walls and husband, Jeff, of North Liberty; 57 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; one brother, James Yerington and wife, Rosalee, of Wilton; and one sister, Kathleen Brockert and husband, Keith, of Muscatine.
