Description	:	A well known and highly respected resident of the Old Appleton community died in Friday night, Oct. 8 at the age of 59 years. Mr. Baer, President of the Farmers Limestone Co. of Old Appleton, succumbed after a long battle with cancer of the liver. Mr. Baer previously was associated with Bucheit and Baer Trucking of Biehle and later became associated with Farmers Limestone, an organization with which he was active for 16 years. Mr. Baer, President of the Farmers Limestone Co. of Old Appleton, succumbed after a long battle with cancer of the liver. Mr. Baer previously was associated with Bucheit and Baer Trucking of Biehle and later became associated with Farmers Limestone, an organization with which he was active for 16 years. Mr. Baer was born in September 30, 1912, in Perry County, a son of Barney and Mary (Trapp) Baer, Sr. On Oct. 14, 1941, he married Lonita Bucheit, who survives. Also surviving are one son, Richard Baer at home; one brother Barney Baer, Jr., of Perryville, and four sisters, Mrs. Wilhelmina Leible of Saint Louis, and Mrs. Christine Winchel, Mrs. Anna Berckbigler and Miss Clara Baer, all of Perryville. Mr. Baer served in the armed forces in WWII and was a member of American Legion post 113 of Perryville. The body was in state at Young and Sons Chapel until 9:30 Monday morning, Oct. 11, when it was taken to St. Joseph's Catholic Church at Apple Creek for mass at 10 by the Rev. George Schrammel, the pastor, assisted by the Rev. Anthony Talir of Biehle. It was one of the largest funerals ever held at St. Joseph's Church.
