Leo Jerauld Nelson was born on July 16, 1916 to Gilbert and Inga (Sivisind) Nelson on the family farm northeast of Bovee, SD. He attended Nelson Country School in Darlington Township and graduated from Geddes High School in 1934. He was baptized and confirmed in Bloomington Lutheran Church. Nelson, 99, of Platte, SD passed away Thursday, December 31, 2015 at Platte Care Center Avera. Leo Jerauld Nelson was born on July 16, 1916 to Gilbert and Inga (Sivisind) Nelson on the family farm northeast of Bovee, SD. He attended Nelson Country School in Darlington Township and graduated from Geddes High School in 1934. He was baptized and confirmed in Bloomington Lutheran Church. Leo devoted his life to a career in farming. On March 5, 1941 he was united in marriage to Marjorie Thomson. He loved farming, visiting and telling old stories – especially about the Harvesting Brigade to Kansas he took part in during WWII. On June 28, 1975 Leo was united marriage to Luella LaDene Indahl. Leo’s handshake meant his firm commitment of friendship and honesty. Farming and family were very important to him. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, enjoyed golfing and bowling and dearly loved his family. Leo was preceded in death by: his wife, Marjorie Nelson (1974); his parents, Gilbert and Inga Nelson; a brother, Selmer Nelson and his wives, Nadene and Francis; two sisters: Iona Pavlis and Darleen Nelson and her husband, Russel; a brother-in-law, Arlen Bouza; and several nieces and nephews.
