Kennedy, son of James and Margaret Kennedy, was born October 26, 1887 in Willow township and passed away on August 28, at the Vets hospital in Des Moines, Iowa at the age of 64 years and 10 months. He lived on a farm in Greene County all of his life, with the exception of a year and a half when he was in service. On May 27, 1918 he entered the V.S. Army at Jefferson and served as a private with Company "K " 349th Infantry , 88th Division, being discharges on June 14, 1919 at Camp Dodge. For many years he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars at Jefferson. He was also a member of the St. Patrick's Church at Bayard. Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother. Those surviving are one brother, Jim of Bayard; two sisters: Mrs Thomas Lyons of Bayard and Mrs Albert Mahoney of Janesville, WI; his stepfather, Mr Ed O'Neill of Coon Rapids; half sister Pauline O'Neill of Jefferson, and several nephews and nieces and cousins.
