Burial followed in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Mapleton, Iowa. Leo, the son of John and Lena (Bruter) Wimmer. was born September 27, 1913, in Dunlap, Iowa, where grew up. He married Berniece Strait June 24, 1942, at Dunlap. In 1957 the couple moved to Mapleton and in 1958 moved to Anthon. While at Anthon, Leo worked for Gothier Farms. In 1983 they moved to Mapleton. His wife died December 1, 1987. In 1990, Leo entered the Elmwood Nursing Home in Onawa. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Mapleton. Survivors include four sons, Myron and wife Janice, James and wife Kay, all of Kingsley, Marvin and wife Kay of Mapleton, Sgt. Kelly and wife Lena with the U.S. Marines in Hawaii, two daughters, Mrs. Gary (Mary Ann) Pierce of Columbia, Maryland, Renee Bellis of Onawa, ten grandchildren, four great grandchildren, one sister, Anna Press of Danbury. He was preceded by his parents, his wife, one daughter, Candia Marie, one brother and one sister.
