She was 74 years, 8 months and 14 days old. In 1842, she came with her father's family to Andrew, Missouri, where in April 1855, she was married to Andrew Jackson Collier, and in 1857 came to Morris County, Kansas. She was 74 years, 8 months and 14 days old. In 1842, she came with her father's family to Andrew, Missouri, where in April 1855, she was married to Andrew Jackson Collier, and in 1857 came to Morris County, Kansas. Eleven children, three boys and eight girls were born to this union. Two girls died while young. There are 17 grandchildren. Her husband, five of the children and A. G. Bird, her brother were with her when she died. At the early age of twelve years she made a profession of religion and united with the M.E. church, south, and continued a faithful member to the end of life. When she came to Kansas she placed her membership in the church at Morris school house. In 1883 the family moved to town, she then joined the M. E. church, south, here, which was her church home when she died. Sister Collier was of a lively, cheerful disposition and made friends wherever she went, of both old and young. It was in her home that she appeared at her best in serving husband and children. In her church life, while she was not a bigot, she loved her own church best, and thus felt she could best serve the cause of her master, by giving her time, money and influence to her own church. As long as she was able she was a regular attendant at all the services and always ready to do her part in all church work. Doubtless we have a true index to her Christian experience and character in her favorite passage of scripture which was the text of her funeral sermon. "I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day, 2 Tim. 1:12. The church was beautifully decorated in white and bright colored flowers appropriate to the bright Christian character. Although the services were held at the busy hour of Saturday afternoon, the church was filled with old and new friends. The writer assisted by Rev. J. O. Forseman conducted the services. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. The old home appears lonely and the hearts of its inmates are sad, but thank God they sorrow not as those who have no home.
