Description	:	Unity – Leola A. Mitchell, 90, of Main Street, died unexpectedly at her home Monday, September 18, 1995. She was born in Troy on February 8, 1905, the daughter of E. Danville and Lillian (Bennett) Mitchell. She attended Troy schools and graduated from Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield in 1923. In 1927 she graduated from Springfield College in Massachusetts. She taught school in Maine for many years in the towns of Albion, Unity, Burnham, China, and Higgins Classical Institute. Mitchell, 90, of Main Street, died unexpectedly at her home Monday, September 18, 1995. She was born in Troy on February 8, 1905, the daughter of E. Danville and Lillian (Bennett) Mitchell. She attended Troy schools and graduated from Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield in 1923. In 1927 she graduated from Springfield College in Massachusetts. She taught school in Maine for many years in the towns of Albion, Unity, Burnham, China, and Higgins Classical Institute. She resided in China from 1934 until 1949 when she moved to Unity on the Albion Road. She moved to Unity Village in 1965. She was active in community affairs. She enjoyed entertaining her family and friends at her camp on Unity Pond. She loved the ocean. She was an avid Red Sox fan. She was a life-time member of the Silver Leaf Chapter 154 Order of the Eastern Star. She attended the Troy Union Church and the China Baptist Church and was a member of the Unity Union Church. She was a charter member of the Unity Senior Citizens Club, the Troy Senior Citizens Club and the Unity Historical Society. She was co-author along with her sister, Edith M. Mitchell, of the History of Troy. She was predeceased by five brothers: James, Dewey, Walter, Manley and Harvey Mitchell; one sister; Edith Mitchell. Survivors include many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends, Freeman and Mary Patterson of Burnham. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Unity Union Church. Burial will be in the Rogers Cemetery in Troy. (Published in the Waterville Morning Sentinel)
