Description	:	Leon D. “Butch” Kleiss, 90, of Humboldt, passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital. He was born May 17, 1929 in Tripoli, Iowa to Ewald and Helen (Piegors) Kleiss. He grew up and graduated from Tripoli and began farming. He farmed for four years before becoming a farm equipment salesman for two years. He also worked as a territory manager for Massey Ferguson. Read More	Leon D. “Butch” Kleiss, 90, of Humboldt, passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital. He was born May 17, 1929 in Tripoli, Iowa to Ewald and Helen (Piegors) Kleiss. He grew up and graduated from Tripoli and began farming. He farmed for four years before becoming a farm equipment salesman for two years. He also worked as a territory manager for Massey Ferguson. Butch married Georgena Segebarth on November 24, 1949 and they moved to Humboldt in 1958. He went into business with Merf Johnsen International Harvester and retired for the first time in 1987. Later, he began selling Aladdin Pressure Washers until 1997, when he retired for the second time. He enjoyed delivering Jet-Co Trailers in the summer and spending the winter months in Mission, Texas for 20 years. Butch served on numerous committees at Faith United Methodist Church, Kiwanis, was Chamber of Commerce President, Methodist Men, IA-NE Farm Equipment Association, I-H Advisory Board (District and Regional) and was the President on the Hospital Board. Butch loved fishing, golfing, and farming, he also enjoyed sales and promotional work and driving part-time. He is survived by his children, Sheryl (Thomas) and Jeffrey (Christine); five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Georgena, his parents and his sister, Vada Ganske. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2019 from 4:00 -7:00 p.m. at Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 21, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt. Burial will be held at a later date.
