Description	:	Leon Everett Pinkerton of Fort Collins passed away April 1, 2012. He was born January10, 1924, in Benkelman, Neb., to Edward and Ruby Pinkerton. Leon married Mary Ellen Miller in 1946 in Benkelman, Neb. They moved to Fort Collins in 1968 and Leon worked for the U.S. Post Office as a mail carrier until he retired. Leon spent much of his time making stained glass and attending craft shows with his wife, Mary Ellen. Read More	Leon Everett Pinkerton of Fort Collins passed away April 1, 2012. He was born January10, 1924, in Benkelman, Neb., to Edward and Ruby Pinkerton. Leon married Mary Ellen Miller in 1946 in Benkelman, Neb. They moved to Fort Collins in 1968 and Leon worked for the U.S. Post Office as a mail carrier until he retired. Leon spent much of his time making stained glass and attending craft shows with his wife, Mary Ellen. He liked to spend time with his family and often helped his daughter with volunteer school projects from his grandsons' elementary school. Leon was always busy and willing to lend a hand with whatever project needed to get done. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and at the age of 80 bought a bicycle so that he could ride to his grandsons' elementary school and they would all ride bikes home together. The grandchildren then loved finding the after school snack of ice cream bars that were always in Grandma and Grandpa's freezer. Leon is survived by: loving wife, Mary Ellen Pinkerton of 65 years; sons, Cappy (Sue) Pinkerton of Blair, NE.; James Pinkerton of Greeley, CO.; daughter, Shelly (Chris) Swanson of Fort Collins, CO.; brother, Gerald Pinkerton of Benkelman, NE.; grandchildren, Justin Pinkerton, Kevin Swanson, Dylan Swanson; great-grandchildren, Kennadee Pinkerton, Ashton Pinkerton, and Griffin Pinkerton. Leon was preceded in death by: parents and brother, Edwin "Sonny" Pinkerton. Interment with military honors will be held at the Benkelman Cemetery in Benkelman, NE.
