Read More	Mary Ellen Pinkerton of Fort Collins passed away Dec. 21, 2012. She was born Jan. 28, 1927, in Benkelman, Neb., to Roy and Ellen Miller. She graduated from Benkelman High School in 1945. Mary Ellen married Leon Pinkerton in 1946 in the home of Mary Ellen's parents in Benkelman, Neb. Mary Ellen was a nurse at the hospital in Benkelman, Neb. She and her husband moved to Fort Collins, Colo., in 1968 and she continued to work as a nurse at Poudre Valley Hospital and then later at Colorado State University Student Health Service as a Nurse Practitioner until she retired after 17 years of service. In recent years, Mary Ellen spent much of her time working on crafts and attending craft shows with her husband, Leon. These craft shows took them all over Colorado and to farther away cities of Quartzsite, Ariz., and Spearfish, S.D. Mary Ellen was always busy working on projects at home, crafting something by hand, or helping her daughter with volunteer work for the elementary school her grandchildren attended. Mary Ellen enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was known to cook the best food, she always had a clean home, shirts were always pressed, and she always had the softest touch. She had a healing and comforting nature that all who knew her were drawn to. Whether talking to her as Grandma, Mom, or Mary Ellen, she always had a way of making things better. Mary Ellen is survived by; sons, Cappy (Sue) Pinkerton of Blair, Neb.; James Pinkerton of Greeley, Colo.; daughter, Shelly (Chris) Swanson of Fort Collins, Colo.; grandchildren, Justin Pinkerton, Kevin Swanson, Dylan Swanson; great-grandchildren, Kennadee Pinkerton, Ashton Pinkerton, and Griffin Pinkerton. Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her loving husband Leon of 65 years and her parents. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012 at 3 p.m. (MT) at the Forch Funeral Chapel in Benkelman, Nebraska. Interment will be held at the Benkelman Cemetery in Benkelman, Nebraska, following the service with Pastor Sheila Taylor officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Johnson Elementary School in Fort Collins in care of Allnutt Funeral Service, 650 W. Drake Road, Fort Collins, CO 80526.
