Description	:	Leon Maifield, 71, Watertown, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2008, in a medical center at Sioux Falls. Funeral services will be Tuesday in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church at Vienna. Burial will be in Pleasant Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation in the Crawford Funeral Chapel at Watertown. Skroch Funeral Chapel in Colman is in charge of arrangements. He received his education in a country school north of Willow Lake and graduated from Willow Lake High School in 1954. He enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served for 20 years during the Berlin Crisis and the Vietnam War. He married Gloria Skelton in 1957. He was a guard at the Missouri State Penitentiary in Jefferson City for 20 years. He later moved to a farm near Willow Lake and then a farm south of Watertown until moving into Watertown in November of 2004. He enjoyed bowling, playing pool, fishing, hunting and pinochle. Survivors include five children, Creig O. of Watertown, Deann (Merle) Gulbranson of Colman, Arthur P. (Deb) of Watertown, Jackie (Chuck) Callahan of Fort Worth, Texas, and Carrie (Dean) Gardiner of Watertown; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ruby (Eldon) Herker of Park Rapids, Minn., and Ardell Fullmer of Bryant.
