Leona Thomas, daughter of James Edward and Minnie Setzer Thomas, was born February 23, 1902 at Brock Nebraska. She was one of seven children. She received her education at Rosewood rural school near Brock and Brock Public School. August 15, 1924 she was united in marriage to Glen E. Brown at Nebraska City, Nebraska. To this marriage three sons were born. After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Brown lived in Omaha, Nebraska, and then moved to Lincoln, Nebraska, where they lived for twenty-two years. She received her education at Rosewood rural school near Brock and Brock Public School. August 15, 1924 she was united in marriage to Glen E. Brown at Nebraska City, Nebraska. To this marriage three sons were born. After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Brown lived in Omaha, Nebraska, and then moved to Lincoln, Nebraska, where they lived for twenty-two years. In 1964 they moved to Brock, Nebraska. Her husband, Glen passed away January 8, 1970. Leona continued to live in Brock the rest of her active life. Leona was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Brock and the Kensington organization. She enjoyed cooking and working with crafts. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the focal point of her life and she enjoyed sewing for the family. As her health began to fail, she was ad-mitted to the Good Samaritan Center in Auburn, Nebraska on August 7, 1992. It was there that she passed away on August 14, 1992 having reached the age of 90 years, five months, and twenty one days. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and four sisters. Those left to mourn her passing are three sons, Vernon Brown and wife, Grace of Lincoln; Robert Brown and wife, Helen of Brock, and Gary and wife, Nancy of Lincoln; seven grandchildren, Judith Ann, Jill Marie, Bobbi Sue, Lori Lee, Martin Robert, Jennifer Lynn, and Timothy Glen; eight great-grandchildren, two sisters, Edna Young and Viola Little, both of Auburn; other relatives and many friends.
