Read More	Obituary From “Ottumwa Courier,” Friday, February 17, 1961: Mrs. John Mottet Mrs. Leona Elizabeth Mottet, 66, died at 1 o’clock this morning at the St. Joseph Hospital. Death followed a short illness. The daughter of Peter and Catherine Schwartz, she was born in Wapello County on Nov. 5, 1894. She lived in this county all her life. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughter of America and the Altar and Rosary Society. Her marriage to John Mottet was May 6, 1925 in Ottumwa. He died June 17, 1957. Two sisters and two brothers also preceded her in death. Surviving are five sons, Raymond Mottet of Whiting, Ind., Edward Mottet of Cedar Rapids, Robert, Francis and James Mottet of Ottumwa; one daughter, Mary, at home; two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Otis of North Chicago, Ill., and Sister Mary Bernadine of the Sisters of Humility of Mary, LeMars; and 19 grandchildren. The body will be removed from the Vaughn Funeral Home to her home at 425 Chester Saturday at 4 p.m. “Mottet Services,” From “Ottumwa Courier,” Saturday February 18, 1961: Funeral services for Mrs. Leona Elizabeth Mottet, 66, who died early Friday at the St. Joseph Hospital will be at 8:30 a.m. Monday at her home, 425 Chester, and at 9 o’clock at St. Patrick’s Church. Her nephew, the Rev. M.A. Mottet of Davenport will celebrate a requiem high mass and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be James Schwartz, Francis Stoessel, Martin O’Hara, Lloyd Overturf, Joe Lahr and Ernest Schwartz. Members of the Catholic Daughters, the Altar & Rosary Society, St. Patrick’s Church and friends will meet at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Mottet home to recite the Rosary.
