She attained the age of 83 years, four months and 23 days. Leona Evelyn Goeman was born on a farm northeast of Lennox on Mar. 29, 1920, the daughter of Elmer and Gertie (Dannen) Goeman. She attained the age of 83 years, four months and 23 days. Leona Evelyn Goeman was born on a farm northeast of Lennox on Mar. 29, 1920, the daughter of Elmer and Gertie (Dannen) Goeman. She moved with her family to a farm east of Lennox where she attended Sherman Rural School and LaValley Presbyterian Church. On Mar. 1, 1940 she was united in marriage to John G. Schoffelman at Lennox Ebenezer Presbyterian Church. They farmed in the Tea area and move to the home farm five miles north and one-half mile east of Lennox in 1945 where they had since lived. She became a resident of the Lennox Good Samaritan Center on Oct. 1, 1999. Her death ended a marriage of over 63 years. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Wesley Goeman and one sister, Elnora Weeg. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, John; seven children: Janice Peterson and her husband, Richard, of Canton, Mavis Parry and her husband, Dean of Gresham, OR, Linda Goulet and her husband, Dennis, of Tea, Corliss Wiebers and her husband, Orville, of Lennox, Shirley Oltmanns and her husband, Stanley, of Sioux Falls and Kevin Schoffelman and his wife, Lorie, of Lennox; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Bernice Hoogestraat of Lennox; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Hilda Jelsma, Al and Ruth Schoffelman, Hank and Cora Schoffelman and Esther and Norman Kuper.
