Description	:	Leona Hilda Kuecker, 98, of Waverly, formerly of Tripoli, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at the Western Home Communities Assisted Living in Cedar Falls. Leona was born February 4, 1918, in Waverly, Iowa, the daughter of William Henry and Sophia Marie (Drewes) Luhring. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church-Siegel. On November 22, 1945, she was united in marriage to Henry Kuecker at St. Paul Lutheran Church-Siegel. The couple would raise their family on a farm outside of Tripoli. Read More	Leona Hilda Kuecker, 98, of Waverly, formerly of Tripoli, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at the Western Home Communities Assisted Living in Cedar Falls. Leona was born February 4, 1918, in Waverly, Iowa, the daughter of William Henry and Sophia Marie (Drewes) Luhring. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church-Siegel. On November 22, 1945, she was united in marriage to Henry Kuecker at St. Paul Lutheran Church-Siegel. The couple would raise their family on a farm outside of Tripoli. Henry passed away suddenly in 1982. Leona continued to live on the farm until 1992 when she moved to her home in Waverly. In 2014, she became a resident of Shell Rock Healthcare Center and in January of 2016 she moved into the Western Home Communities Assisted Living in Cedar Falls. Leona was a devoted lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church-Siegel where she was active in the church circle and Sunday school. She always kept a large garden at the farm, and would preserve and can the harvest each year. She was an excellent cook and baked the best 'goodies', chocolate chip cookies, coffee cake and homemade bread to name a few. Leona is survived by daughters; Judith Larson of Eagan, Minnesota, Beverly Kuecker of Cedar Falls and Rhonda Kuecker of Waterloo sons; Dale (Rhonda Johnson-Kuecker) of Tripoli and Paul Kuecker of Tripoli, seven grandchildren; Brian (Charlene) Larson, Justin (Heidi) Kuecker, Michael Kuecker, Samuel (Katie Jones) Kuecker, Kira Larson, Kevin (Michelle) Kuecker and Brittany Kuecker, four great grandchildren; Kyle Kuecker, Aubry Monahan, Wyatt Kuecker and David Kuecker, step-grandson; Jeremiah Saul, step great grandson; Hunter Saul. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Henry, daughter Karen Kuecker, sisters; Esther Lenius and Lorena Peters, brother; Erwin Luhring. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2016, at St. Paul Lutheran Congregation in Tripoli with Pastors John Block and Robert Salge officiating. Burial will be in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery-Siegel. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, April 22, 2016, at the Funeral Home in Waverly and for an hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Memorials may be directed to the family or Cedar Valley Hospice
