Description	:	Lorena H. Peters, 84, of Tripoli, Iowa passed away on Monday, December 8, 2003 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. Lorena was born on September 17, 1919, at the family farm in Douglas Township, Bremer County, Iowa, the daughter of William & Sophia (Drewes) Luhring. She was baptized on October 19, 1919 and confirmed on March 20, 1932, both at St. Paul Lutheran Church - Siegel. Lorena attended country school at Douglas Township #8. Peters, 84, of Tripoli, Iowa passed away on Monday, December 8, 2003 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. Lorena was born on September 17, 1919, at the family farm in Douglas Township, Bremer County, Iowa, the daughter of William & Sophia (Drewes) Luhring. She was baptized on October 19, 1919 and confirmed on March 20, 1932, both at St. Paul Lutheran Church - Siegel. Lorena attended country school at Douglas Township #8. After her schooling, she remained at home and helped on the family farm. On May 3, 1942, Lorena was united in marriage to Leslie Peters at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Readlyn. After their marriage, the couple moved to the Luhring family farm. Lorena was a devoted farm wife, and especially enjoyed working with poultry. The couple retired in 1983. In 1996, because of poor health Lorena and Les purchased a house in Tripoli and have lived there since. Les passed away on April 17, 2003. Lorena was a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Congregation in Tripoli where she participated in the St. Paul Women of Life for many years. She enjoyed gardening and flowers, stitch work, and quilting for her children and grandchildren. Lorena is survived by two sons, Duane Peters and his fiancé, Linda Gabe of Tripoli and Darwyn Peters and his spouse, Janice of Tripoli; two daughters, Darlys Peters and her friend, Mike Hoffert, of Waterloo and Diane Peters of Tripoli; three grandchildren, Dawn Everding and her spouse, Kevin, of Sumner, Donna Schmudlach and her spouse, Wade, of Sumner, and Morgan Peters of Tripoli; four great grandchildren, Kristina & Heather Everding and Stone & Jetti Schmudlach, all of Sumner; and one sister, Leona Kuecker of Waverly. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Erwin Luhring; one sister, Esther Lenius; and two brothers-in-law, Adolph Lenius and Henry Kuecker. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 11, 2003, at the St. Paul Lutheran Congregation in Tripoli. Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery - Siegel, rural Waverly, Iowa. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Wednesday at the Funeral Home in Readlyn and for an hour before the service at the church.
