Interment was a Riverside Cemetery, Anamosa. The Rev. Eugene Schipper officiated at the service. Leona L. Neunaber, age 66, died Monday, May 27, 1996 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics following an extended illness. Leona Louise was born February 37, 1930 at Anamosa. She was the daughter of Herman and Emma Dirks Tapken. She attended country school at Cass Center and graduated from Anamosa High School with the class of 1948. On December 9, 1950, she was united in marriage with Dale Neunaber in Cedar Rapids. Leona worked as a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell and later worked for Collins Radio. She spent the last twenty-five years as a homemaker. In addition to being a member of Wayne Zion Lutheran Church, she was also a member of the Grant Wood Arts Center and the Anamosa Garden Club. She is survived by her husband Dale of Anamosa; three sons, Michael of Anamosa, Danny J. (Laurie) of Appleton, Wisconsin, James D. of Anamosa; two brothers, Harvey Tapken of Anamosa, John (Lana) Tapken of Marion; two grandchildren, James D. and Lindsey M. Neunaber; two aunts, Grace Ommen of Monticello, Alice Dirks of Marion; one uncle, Alva Dirks of Cedar Rapids and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Richard Tapken. Casket bearers were John P. Neunaber, Kevin Zirkelbach, Ervin Eiben, Keith Tapken, Jan Neunaber and Kyle Tapken. A memorial fund has been established to the Wayne Zion stained glass window.
