Read More	Leona Troshynski, 85, daughter of Nichalous and Elizabeth (Olinger) Schmit, was born August 3, 1934 in Atkinson, Nebraska. She passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at the New Homestead, Guthrie Center, Iowa. Leona grew up on the family farm in rural Atkinson, NE. She and her “tribe” of siblings were quite ornery. She went to country school and graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in Atkinson in 1952. On June 6, 1959, she married Leonard Troshynski at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Atkinson, NE. They moved to Guthrie Center after their marriage and made their home on an acreage south of town for 58 years until they moved to Independent Living at the New Homestead in 2017. Many memories and celebrations happened at the Troshynski farm. Leona was a hard worker and had fun with her co-workers. She was a dishwasher at the Guthrie Center High School, a clerk at Casey’s General Store, and a pharmacy tech at Dowd Drug. Leona had a lot of determination and spunk. She enjoyed playing baseball and wrestling with her grandkids, socializing with family and friends, playing cards, cheering for her Nebraska Cornhuskers and St. Louis Cardinals. She had a strong faith, which was passed along to her family. She was very competitive and didn’t like to lose at anything. You never had to wonder what she was thinking, she just told you. She entertained everyone she knew with her own “terminology” of words. Leona was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Altar & Rosary Society, was a religious education teacher, and a member of the “First Friday Group”. Leona is survived by her husband, of 60 years, Leonard; children, Timothy (Deb), William (Shannon), Lisa (Lance) and Lori (David); grandchildren, Lindsay (Robbie), Jordan (Amber), Morgan (Alex), Faith, Chloe, Jake (Christana), Taylor (Josh), Rachel and fiancé, Tony, Nick (Tessa), Whitney (Mike), Lauren (Titan), Adam (Chelsea), Logan, Blake and Lilly; great-grandchildren, Dylan, Colten, Jace, Conner, Haley, Kaden, Cecilia, Brandon, Audrey, Lucy, Kate, Sawyer, Huck, Ella, Burke, Briggs, Jayda and 2 new “greats” on the way. Sibilings, John (Eileen), George (Udonna) and Catherine; sisters-in-law, Shirley, Pat, Rita and Lois. She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Emily Troshynski; brothers, Mike, Nick, Richard, Raymond, Ben and Clarence; sisters, Mary Ann, Betty, Eleanor and Rosemary. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Monday, August 26, 2019 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Guthrie Center. Burial will be in the Resurrection Cemetery, rural Guthrie Center. Visitation will be Sunday, August 25, 2019 from 2-5 P.M. at St. Mary’s Parrish Center.
