Description	:	As a small child, Leona lived in a house built by her father, a Danish immigrant. It was a two story home with dirt floors. This house was in Peterson, Iowa. Her father was a carpenter & farmer and her mother was a weaver & she assisted the funeral parlor in getting the deceased ready for funerals (i.e. hair, dressing and make-up). Leona was first generation American on her fathers side and was buried between two of her children that preceded her in death. Leona worked as hard as any man on the farm, she never hesitated to put in the needed effort to get the job done. OBITUARY Reads: Leona N. Parker INDIANOLA, IA---Leona N. Parker, 94, of Westview Care Center in Indianola died of Pneumonia Friday at home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Overton Funeral Home. Burial will be in Norwalk Cemetery in Norwalk. Mrs. Parker was born in Peterson and had lived in Missouri and on farms in Warren and Clarke counties before moving to Indianola four years ago. She had been a homemaker. Preceded in death by her parents Peter J. and Ida B. (DeVault) Peterson, husband Frank Parker, son Ned Parker, daughter Eleanor Parker, brothers Dickey and Cle Peterson and sisters Allena and Dollie Peterson. Surviving are her two sons, Fred Sr. of rural St. Charles and Robert Sr. of Indianola: two daughters, Dorothy Warren of Indianola and Lucille Pillow of Mesa Ariz.: 18 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. The family will meet with friends from 6:30 to 8:30 P.M. today at the funeral home.
