Born February 26, 1925 in Franklin County, Indiana she was the daughter of the late Robert Louis & Sarah Elizabeth (Reese) Smith. She remained a lifelong resident of Franklin County, Indiana. On October 21, 1947 she was united in marriage to Marlin M. Allen, and he preceded her in death in 1979. She was a member of the Valley Christian Church in Brookville. She had been employed at the former American Central in Connersville, and later at the Franklin County... Read More	Leona Allen, age 85, of Brookville, Indiana died Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at the Brookville Healthcare Center in Brookville, Indiana. Born February 26, 1925 in Franklin County, Indiana she was the daughter of the late Robert Louis & Sarah Elizabeth (Reese) Smith. She remained a lifelong resident of Franklin County, Indiana. On October 21, 1947 she was united in marriage to Marlin M. Allen, and he preceded her in death in 1979. She was a member of the Valley Christian Church in Brookville. She had been employed at the former American Central in Connersville, and later at the Franklin County Courthouse where she was a custodian for over 13 years. Survivors include three sisters, of Napoleon, Indiana, June Turco of Hamilton, Ohio, Dorothy Riley of Converse Texas, and Claudia Hertel of Brookville, Indiana; three brothers, Leonard D. Smith of Brookville, Forrest Smith of Metamora, Indiana and James Smith of Greenfield, Indiana; as well as several nieces & nephews. Besides her parents & husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Oceola Browning, Lettie Powers, Audrey Powers, Patricia Smith; two brothers, William Smith and Leonard D. Smith. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home in Brookville, burial will then follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville. Family & friends may visit from 9 till 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Ave., Brookville. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Valley Christian Church or the Franklin County E.M.S.
