He touched the lives of numerous people and has served as a great mentor, role model and friend. Besides his loving wife, he is survived by his children. He was predeceased by his father Cyril, brothers Gerald and Spencer, sister-in-law Marion and his nephews Gary and Kelly Hochstein. Leonard was born in Pincher Creek, Alberta. After receiving a degree from Olds Agricultural College he worked for a few years at the Douglas Lake Cattle Company in B.C., as a wrangler. Following this he returned to Alberta and moved back to the family farm near Pincher Creek where he worked with his father raising a successful registered Angus herd. He married Marlene Cyr on October 8, 1960 and they lived and worked on the farm for over thirty years. He eventually semi-retired , moved into town and focused on his many community activities, as well as driving school bus and working with the Pincher Creek Feeders Association. He actively participated in the Knights of Columbus, Community Hall Board, Five Pin Bowling Association and 4-H. He will be greatly missed at the golf course, bingo hall, bowling alley and coffee shops. Relatives and friends were invited for Prayers at the Pincher Funeral Chapel, 1101 Main Street, Pincher Creek on Sunday January 6th, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 958 Christie Ave, Pincher Creek on Monday January 7th, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Bryan Frank officiating. A reception will follow at the Pincher Creek Community Hall where friends are invited to share their memories of Leonard. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Leonard's name to the Windy Slopes Health Foundation, P.O. Box 2554, Pincher Creek, AB, T0K 1W0.
