Mr. O'Shields was born April 15, 1918, in Union, SC., a son of the late Newton P. O'Shields and Eliza Lewis O'Shields. He was a member of Brown's Creek Baptist Church and a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. O'Shields was born April 15, 1918, in Union, SC., a son of the late Newton P. O'Shields and Eliza Lewis O'Shields. He was a member of Brown's Creek Baptist Church and a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. O'Shields retired from the maintenance department of the Milliken Company- Monarch Plant after many years of service. Survivors in addition to his wife are a daughter: Linda O. Carter and husband Floyd of Union; two sons: Frank O'Shields and wife Ramoth and Larry K. O'Shields and wife Jerry all of Union; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Mr. O'Shields was predeceased by a two brothers: Lewis O'Shields and Landrum O'Shields; two sisters: Mary O. Davis and Lois O. Crocker; two granddaughters: Jennifer Fowler and Jan Hines; and a son-in-law: James "Jimbo" Fowler. Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM today at Brown's Creek Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. John Lee and Rev. Brad Goodale. The family will receive friends at the graveside following the service. Memorials maybe made to Hospice Care of SC-Union Unit, 408 N. Duncan Bypass, Union, SC 29379 or charity of one's choice.
