Description	:	------------------------- Leonard W. Starks, a former citizen of Monticello, died at Coleridge, Nebraska, Tuesday, July 27, of Bright's disease, aged 72 years and 9 days. Mr. Starks came to Monticello about 1857. He was married to Miss Emily E. Jacobs, March 28, 1858. He enlisted, in 1862, in Company H., of the 31st Iowa Infantry, but at the expiration of five months he was honorably discharged on account of ill health, and disease contracted in camp. He was married to Miss Emily E. Jacobs, March 28, 1858. Mr. Starts' wife died October 5, 1867, leaving 3 children, Eunice, Sanford and Nellie the latter of whom died July 13, 1905. Mr. Starks was married January 1,1873, to Miss Hannah Jacobs, who survives him. Two children were born to them, Cyrus and Rhoda, the former of whom died February 6, 1885. Mr. Starks remained a citizen of Monticello until 1884, a period of 27 years. He then removed with his family to Coleridge, Nebraska, where he resided until death. Mr. Starks was born in Champlain Village, New York, July 18, 1837. The Coleridge Blade says that the funeral was very largely attended, and was in charge of the Masonic order, of which the deceased was a member. The paper referred to speaks of him as an active and useful citizen, who had a well-deserved reputation as an upright and honorable man. Mr. Starks has two sisters living in Monticello, Mrs. J. S.
