Description	:	Leota L. Oleson, age 90, passed away on June 20, 2010, at the Laurens Good Samaritan Center. Leota Lanore Lund Oleson was born on September 10, 1919 near Laurens, Iowa. She was the daughter of Lyman & Hazel (Siddall) Lund. She graduated from Laurens Consolidated School in 1937. After high school she graduated from Methodist Hospital in Sioux City and became a registered nurse. She joined the Women's Army Corp and served until she married Dwight Oleson on July 11, 1942. Oleson, age 90, passed away on June 20, 2010, at the Laurens Good Samaritan Center. Leota Lanore Lund Oleson was born on September 10, 1919 near Laurens, Iowa. She was the daughter of Lyman & Hazel (Siddall) Lund. She graduated from Laurens Consolidated School in 1937. After high school she graduated from Methodist Hospital in Sioux City and became a registered nurse. She joined the Women's Army Corp and served until she married Dwight Oleson on July 11, 1942. After their marriage, Leota was a nurse at the Spencer Hospital while Dwight farmed. They continued to farm until 1992 when they moved into Laurens. She also worked for the Good Samaritan Center in Laurens, Dr. Keeney in Mallard for 10 years, the Laurens Public Library and for Dr. Dwight Van Genderen until retiring. Dwight passed away on September 9, 1997, and Leota continued to make her home in Laurens. Leota was an active member of the United Methodist Church, UMW member, playing for early Sunday services and singing many years in the choir. She also belonged to Eastern Star, St. Luke's Alumni in Sioux City and the historical society. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, embroidering, playing cards and watching baseball but most of all her family and grandkids. Survivors include daughters Jill ( Steve) Havick of Urbandale and Kaye (Dwight) Van Genderen of Laurens, and son Dean (Deborah) Oleson of Laurens; grandsons Jason (April) Oleson of Spencer and Cody (Christina) Oleson of Royal; great-granddaughter Marquise Oleson of Spencer, great-grandson Merrick Oleson of Spencer; step granddaughter Steva Havick-Judge (Dien) and great grandson Aidan of Albia, step grandson Ben (Miho) Havick of Nagoya, Japan, a sister Lucylle (Bill) Dubbert of Falls Church, Va., and a half sister Cleo (Bob) Stover., West Bend. Leota was preceded in death by her husband Dwight, parents and a brother Lloyd Lund.
